Veterans go to Denver Aquarium for shark cage diving
The video, reported by 9NEWS, covers a Veterans Day event where the non-profit organization Veterans Exploration Therapy (VET) took a group of veterans for a shark cage dive at the Denver Aquarium . VET, founded by Iraq veteran Deke Letson, uses adventure and shared experiences to help veterans confront their fears, which is described as being "almost like shark diving". The organization's mission is to reach veterans who may have fallen through the cracks of the system and help them overcome challenges like PTSD, depression, and feelings of panic. Veteran Andrew Follender, who served for eight years, shares his experience of finding renewed strength through the program, saying the shared commonality with other veterans helps build long-lasting relationships [01:41]. Since its launch in 2022, VET has worked with over 350 veterans and their families through more than 35 programs, including skydiving, mountain biking, and this shark cage dive.
