Intro to Kayaking
Join us for a free two-part introduction to kayaking with Team River Runner. No experience needed. Just show up, gear up, and dive in.

Event Overview
This two part kayaking experience is designed exclusively for veterans who are ready to try something new, build confidence on the water, and have some fun in the process. We’ve partnered with Team River Runner to provide all the gear, guidance, and support you’ll need. No experience required.
The program begins with a pool session on Wednesday, August 20 at Carmody Recreation Center in Lakewood. You’ll get familiar with the equipment, learn the basics of paddling, and practice how to safely exit a kayak if it tips. The second session takes place on Sunday, August 24 at River Run Park or another nearby waterway, depending on river flow. There, you’ll apply what you’ve learned in a calm, moving water environment.
This event is free for veterans, but space is limited to 8 participants. You must attend the pool session in order to join the river trip. Come ready to challenge yourself, connect with fellow veterans, and experience something unforgettable.
